When I heard that the prize for the September Challenge was Samsung ST550, I was excited! Hahahaha. Because everyone knows how much I like to take self-portrait (sounds so much better than camwhore). Hello? When I laid my hands on Nikon D200, the first thing I did was to test if I can take picture of myself. Apparently, you can!

So, I procastinated for a really loong time and wasted a lot of shots. Like 250+ shots? Bugged Thomas, my colleagues and Shuyun! And I think I have come up with the 3 choice!

Option 1 - The non-leggy version!

Option 2 - The warm version.

And I think this should most probably be Option 3.

Coolest View, Hottest Race – F1 @ Singapore Flyer(:

Level 1 Access.

Thanks to 24seven for the Level 1 Access pass (:

Not a huge fan of F1 because a) I am not into cars and b) though the racers are cute, they are a tad too short for my liking. Hahaha. But the hype generated over Twitter/Facebook/Plurk was so great that I got curious and took part into the Twitter ‘draw’ that 24seven had going on! And VIOLA! I am heading to the flyer for the Qualifying Rounds!

And guess what? We get to go to the Singapore Flyer in style! Via the River Taxi (:

Scared of water as I am, I still enjoyed the boat ride. The wind in your hair, observing the happenings on land while you travel at a slow speed. It’s as if you are detached from the hustle and bustle for just that 10 min right. I like!

Since we have unlimited rides on the Flyer and we are EARLY, we decided to take a trial ride on the Flyer where Shuyun and Victor played with their Pinkys, QQ took pictures of the surroundings and me? Cam-whoring all the way, trying to get some shots for the Singapore Photographers September Challenge.  Yet to squeezed something out though.

After the first ride, we lounged at some really random place before heading up again to the Flyer as the race was about to start!!! While waiting for our turn to board the Flyer, we heard the *zoom zoom* of the race cars and WOOTS! I nearly died from excitement! The sound is so….intoxicating. I can’t describe the feeling to you. But dang! It’s better getting high on alcohol! WOOSH!

The Flyer gave us a bird’s eye view of the entire race track which was good! But! Photo opportunities sucked. I took about a hundred shots? And only 5-10 made it.

This has to be my favorite shot of all from the Flyer. It’s actually 3 seperate pictures but on their own, they don’t look nice or meaningful. So I just merged them together and VIOLA! It shows how this car swerved at the turn before travelling in a straight line(: Cool right!?

After the ride, the race was still going on and the sound of the cars was just as intoxicating! I don’t get why people say they are noisy. It’s sexy! It’s hot! It’s blood racing!

*regains composure* ANYWAYS! When we reached the 1st floor, we realised that we are able to see the cars so much closer! WOOTS! And so, we settled there for a good 30 minutes (: My panning shots? FAIL! So I settled for just some normal shots that doesn’t give the feel that the cars are actually moving. If you know what I mean.

When the whole thing was over and adrenaline left, I was exhausted! We queued for the boat ride back(: All in all, an excellent experience! Thank you again to 24seven (:

POSB Squirrel (:

Like a little squirrel saving nuts, I have been bitten by the save-money bug? Kinda. CONFESSION! I was a little saver when I was young? I would save save save and then deposit them all (: HEH!

But I think as I grew older since after A’levels, I don’t save I just spend. The lowest low that my account balance has gone to is $1.67-.- It lasted for 6 months and I nearly died! Had to keep taking money from my parents. I feel so bad:(

ANYWAYS! I think most of you have heard about my “No-Nets-Only-Cash” day from FB. And I have to say, Day One was pretty flopped? Kinda. Here’s what happened -

a) I wanted to buy Crocs but no money! GOOD!
b) I wanted to go for pedicure but no money too! GOOD!
c) Realised I had prepaid account at Strip. Went and took cab home. FAIL!

As a result, I am left with $22 – $4 – $10 = $8 at the end of yesterday. As of now, I have $8 – $1.80 = $6.20 left! 2 more days! JIAYOU! (And I have $12.50 as emergency funds. SHHH *chants* it’s not there, it’s not there).

Why spurred this sudden “obsession” with money?

After a rushed decision to buy this with my 2nd paycheck, I am pretty broke now. And it doesn’t help that I have to fork out $600 for my Enthusiast Class on Monday.

I have enough to get by but that’s not the point! I need to SAVE! For rainy days and whatnot! And as a rule of thumb (if I didn’t remember wrongly from Wealth Management class), it’s advisable to save 20% of your monthly pay! Sadly, I didn’t

After 3 FULL months of working, I only saved $600 That’s only 10%. Bad Bad. Must jiayou! If not, my dream of buying my own car/house and everything else will move further away from me! Not to mention that I need a dry cabinet for my D300 and Macro lens !!

Sigh.

On the bright side! I have just opened a POSB MySavings account during lunch! Basically, they will deduct $50 (starting with the minimal amount) from my bank account every month. So I am kinda “forced” to save. So if I don’t pass 20% of the pay to my mum to save, then at least I am saving $50 somewhere?

HAHAH!

A fun-filled Saturday! (:

The Saturday that just passed was pretty fun-filled for me (:

Early in the morning, there was Social Media Breakfast 7 -

Of which I am pretty disappointed? I turned off halfway through the first presentation (sorry!) and the only thing that caught my attention was the Lenovo presentation at the end. Too much pitching and just listing *sigh* Ohwells. Better ones soon right?(:

After that, a bunch of us went to J8 for a short round of Monopoly Dealing! Where I broke the record *ahem* 3 full set, 2 half set and $43million in cash! KACHING! I was a bit too loud and proud of it that the others started targeting in for subsequent rounds. Boohoohoo! Anyhows, we started a hashtag in Twitter. So if you are dealing, use #mdealsg (:

Several rounds later, it’s time for us to head down to Ngee Ann City Civic Plaza for the INQ event! Thanks,  24seven for the invite !

Are you INQ?

I’ve heard about the phone and all but it’s the first time I am seeing and touching one! I was not that fascinated by it? Yes, it has direct access to FB and Twitter. And then? Appearance-wise, it looks just like a Nokia/candybar phone. The keypad is way too hard and small for my liking! Camera not very conducive for self-shot-.- However! The others brought up a very good point! We are probably not the target audience. Us, old people who expect our handphone to do magic and perhaps even clean our room for us. For teenagers who wants to stay connected, this is probably a pretty schmooz phone AND yet affordable (: And this probably appeals to people who wants fuss-free handphone!

But that’s just my personal opinion! Don’t take my word for it! You should give the phone a try and who knows? You might fall in love with it!

Oh and they had a “Blogger Photo Contest” going on! And here’s the board! (Just an excuse for us to camwhore!)

While we were waiting for the bus outside Hereen, we spotted the ghouls and trolls from Night Safari’s Horror Night there!

While waiting for our turn to board the flyer, I feel like I am in Jurassic Park! With all the nets and trees below! And all the sound of the machines! It’s quite scary! (cause I am scared of dinosaurs!) HAHAHAHA! But at last! We are on board of the capsule!

Erm.. no pictures from me because the a)the glass is so dirty, b)reflections (I was wearing WHITE!) and c)no tripod So I was quite bored. 1/4 through the journey, I was like, “ARE WE THERE YET?!” HAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Short attention span this woman has! >.<

Towards the end of the ride, I started camwhoring! And here’s our group picture!

Anyways, the ride was quite okay. Nice view but the capsule was too crowded for me to sit down and enjoy or even to emo. Sigh.  OHWELLS! When I am rich and when the IR is up, I AM GOING TO BOOK A CAPSULE! Or maybe I should get a rich boyfriend to do it for me. HAHAHA!

Yups! That’s it for my Saturday!
