Devotions 30/08/2015

I have been reading Our Daily Bread and using “The Holy Bible” application (highly recommended) to starts plans. I particularly like Rick Warren’s because they are not overly preachy and helps to relate to daily life.

ANYWAYS! Sometimes, I find meaningful words/verses/phrases and I do a screenshot of them. But somehow, an idea struck me today and I thought, “Why not just do a weekly Sunday thing?” Just in case the phone dies and the screenshots disappeared *choy!*

Still can’t sleep. That makes it about 4 weeks? It got really bad on Thursday when I couldn’t even nap in the afternoon and I was super angsty. But yesterday was slightly better. I WILL HAVE PEACEFUL SLEEP FROM TODAY ONWARDS! 빠샤!

One more week till I start. 有点期待, 有点紧张. Dying my hair, KK Breast Centre appointment, maybe a movie and buying my new laptop. Final week, let’s go!

Lord, help me to seek those things which are from above. I want to turn off all that distracts me and draw near to You. – ODB, 23 August 2015

Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, . . . who comforts us in all our tribulation, that we may be able to comfort those who are in any trouble. – 2 Corinthians 1:3-4

Don’t be too quick to get angry, because anger lives in the fool’s heart. – Ecclesiastes 7:9

(The following is really true for me the past week when exhausation gave me a really bad temper.)

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue” (Prov. 18:21). Words have the potential to produce positive or negative consequences (v. 20). They have the power to give life through encouragement and honesty or to crush and kill through lies and gossip. How can we be assured of producing good words that have a positive outcome? The only way is by diligently guarding our hearts: “Above all else, guard your heart, for everything you do flows from it” (4:23 niv). – ODB, 26 August 2015

But the Lord is faithful and will give you strength and protect you from the evil one. – 2 Thessalonians 3:4

Dear Father, hold my hands and lead me in the path of right living. – ODB, 29 August 2015

A happy heart is good medicine and a cheerful mind works healing, but a broken spirit dries the bones. – Proverbs 17:22

September is almost upon us. With the above verse in mind, let’s JIAYOU (: 힘내!

Devotion 23/08/2015

Been quite an eventful first week of break. My laptop broke down on the first day of the break and I had to bring it to Sim Lim for repair. I think no one knows what was wrong so they reinstalled Windows and changed my HDD. Seems to work fine for the 1st day and on the 2nd day, it crashed. Strangely, only ONE restore point works, the rest doesn’t. iTunes seems to be the one crashing everything. I can bring it back to the shop and demand they fix it but honestly, the effort is not worth it. I’m trying to see how long I can tahan the laptop in this state because let’s face it, my financial status is not too steady now.

I’ve sent the problem to another store and they said it could be the motherboard. A quick search online, it could be 10,001 reasons. Trade in value of the laptop is only $80 o.O I might as well rip out the new HDD and use it as back-up? Anyways, no more Samsung laptop for me. Fujitsu or maybe ASUS?

Going into the 2nd week of break. Let’s hope this one is boring and less eventful! And hopefully, insomnia goes away. SHOO!

The Lord gets blamed when something goes wrong, but He seldom gets credit for all the things that go right.
– ODB, 16 August 2015
(Bottomline: Be thankful for everyday)

You need to take your gift and ask God for wisdom to cultivate it until it becomes such a powerful tool that wherever you turn, you prosper. – Joseph Prince’s Devotional
(Bottomline: Everyone is talented. It just takes time to find out what that talent is)

Lord, helpme to be ready at any time to be Your hands and feet to those in need. – ODB, 20 August 2015

Restful and blessed week ahead, everyone (:

Devotion 16/08/2015

And so another chapter has closed (: I thought my departure will be a quiet one but I have people that I’ve not worked with, coming to me and saying bye. Of course, there’s the ladies (and Kelvin, Edwin). Hee. My own team in HK and UK? Nothing. Speaks volume. Nonetheless, I’ll miss everyone!

3 weeks break before the start of another chapter. A chapter that I’ve waited for a long time, a chapter where everyone is sure I will do well in, a chapter that everyone says suits me (: 3 weeks of me time! I am planning for a consecutive week of not going out, 1 day of museum visit and the last week where I have to go for my check-up. HIBERNATION MODE: ON!

Thank you for holding my hands and delivering me through this choppy short chapter. Amen.

Lord Jesus, You are the one constant in this chaotic world. Thank You for being the one true light that the darkness can never extinguish. – ODB, 14 August 2015

I’m grateful, Lord, that You are at work in me. I want You to change my heart; please help me to listen and to cooperate with You. – ODB, 13 August 2015

The Lord’s eyes are on the righteous and his ears are open to their prayers. But the Lord cannot tolerate those who do evil. Who will harm you if you are zealous for good? – 1 Peter 3:12-13

Put aside all bitterness, losing your temper, anger, shouting and slander, along with every other evil. Be kind, compassionate, and forgiving to each other, in the same way God forgave you in Christ. – Ephesians 4:31-32

True faith responds to the needs of others. May our hearts be moved from inaction to action, from words alone to deeds that back them up. O Lord, it is so easy to be overwhelmed, or to judge and therefore to refrain from others. Lift our eyes above our own thoughts and circumstances, and let us care as You care. – ODB, 10 August 2015

God can create roads where we only see obstacles. When the way ahead of us seems uncertain, it’s good to remember what God has done in the past. He specializes in pathways in any circumstance – pathways that point us to His love and power. Thank you, God, for the miraculous ways You have worked in the past. Help me to remember Your power and faithfulness when I can see only trouble and difficulty. – ODB, 9 August 2014

Whatever you do, do it from the heart for the Lord and not for the people. – Colossians 3:23

ONE MORE WEEK TO GO! (: Can’t believe that it’s the final week. Only realised it when I was working out of the office on Thursday. That little voice in me went, “4 more days of walking the same path out!”

The past week has been blessed. Many treats from many friends who are (currently) more happy than I am about my departure from the CBD. Thank you, ber for the kueh balus! Thank you, viv for the lemon sweets! Thank you, Sherrane for the movie treat! Thank you, YY and Richard for the Westin lunch treat! Thank you, Mus and Jerrick (aka my PR guy and lawyer) for the pizza-licious treat (:  Thank you, thank you, thank you!

I only realised how many people I have around me when I am able to share my joy? When I was stuck in my rut, I felt so lonely but now that I’m lighter, I realised I’m surrounded by so many people! (:

Oh yeah. During my cousin’s church ceremony, I realised why I don’t want to go to church. Not ready to sing hymns in church and go T.T Heh.

There you go! Praying for a smooth and speedy last week filled with only joy and laughter 😀

Heavenly Father, whether we are being tempted now, or have fallen, we thank You that You are always there, and You love us with relentless love. WE have nowhere to turn but to You. – ODB, 3 August 2015

After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, the who called you into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will himself restore, empower, strengthen and establish you. – 1 Peter 5:10

God is not only able, but also willing to make you whole. – Joseph Prince’s Devotional

Lord, by Your grace, please replace my critical spirit with Your love and compassion for others.

August is here and 2 more weeks to go. Been dragging around a dead weight all this while and I just realised that. But I’ll remember my philosophy – 不要害人. The truth will be out eventually (: But yeah, 2 more weeks! I have lunch lined up almost all the way to my very last day. Saying goodbye to the CBD and the people I’ve met properly now.

I’ve been thinking if I should go to Korea for a short trip during my 3 weeks break. But after some numbers crunching, it’s best not to. I can if I want to but in the grand scheme of things, it’s better it makes more sense for me to not go. I keep swinging between the 2, so I dont quite know how it will go ;p

Long weekend coming! Praying for a smooth and speedy week filled with laughter and joy this coming week (:

..it is not your ability to quote an entire verse perfectly that releases God’s power, but faith in His words and His love for you. And one word from Him is enough to send your enemies scurrying away. – Joseph Prince’s Devotional
(*cough* someone tell that to my sister please *cough*)

Heavenly Father, You are loving and gracious, and eager to forgive when we return to You.
May we pursue You with our whole heart and not cling to our stubborn tendency to want things our way.
First we make our habits; then our habits make us. – ODB, 28 July 2015

Forgive me, Lord, for refusing to throw away my own ‘thrash”. Open my eyes to the damage that pride does to Your natural and spiritual creation. May I have no part of it. – ODB, 29 July 2015

With God’s strength behind you and His arms beneath you, you can face whatever lies ahead of you.
– ODB, 30 July 2015

Having peace with God does not ensure problem-free living. However, it does steady us during difficult times.
Father, we long for Your peace in the midst of our turmoil. Please help us to rest in You. – ODB, 1 August 2015

The Lord isn’t slow to keep his promise, as some think of slowness, but he is patient toward you, not wanting anyone to perish but all to change their hearts and lives. – 2 Peter 3: 9

Giving thanks to God often helps us learn contentment with what we do have. – ODB. 26 July 2015
