Devotion 27/12/2015

Sometimes, I find meaningful words/verses/phrases and I do a screenshot of them. But somehow, an idea struck me today and I thought, “Why not just do a weekly Sunday thing?” Just in case the phone dies and the screenshots disappeared *choy!*

벌써the end of my one month break is coming to an end. I am happy to say that I have done absolutely nothing 😀 Well, if you don’t count reading and catching up on dramas as doing something. But honestly, time seems to zoom by.

I’ll miss sleeping at 2am, waking up when I want to, napping at 1pm, snack at 4pm, drama session from 5-9pm, dinner and family time till 11.30pm then random surfing and repeat. Gonna miss the silence around noon. Amazingly, at that time, there’s no cars on the road, no noise. There’s only bright sky, sunlight and the chirps of the occasional birds. It’s awesome.

ANYWAYS! 2 days of work before another tiny break. And then back to school. I can so do this! May this week be filled with rest and grace. Amen!

Thoughts and feelings run wild in the midst of crises, but those are exactly the times we need to be careful about making decisions. Let your emotions subside before you decide. Instead of drowning in worry and fear, get in touch with God, who sees past the storm and orchestrates the big picture. God, I know I cant control everything, so I will do what I can and trust You to do what I can’t do. The storms of life do not control me. I trust Your plans for me. –  Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Lord, it’s clear to me that I have nothing to gain from a ‘glass-half-empty’ mindset. Even in impossible situations, I know that You are there. I choose to see the positive side of things as I live in Your Word. –  Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Your little is a lot when you give your all. – ODB, 22 December 2015

God, I want to live as a Christian who is filled with the power of Your Holy Spirit. Show me how to live in the deep, satisfying joy that comes from the Holy Spirit. I thank You for the power and the wisdom to walk through every day and every situation. –  Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Lord, I ask You to help me to remove all of the distractions in my life, even if it hurts. Help me to seek You above all else and be led by the Holy Spirit in my daily life. I want to live for You! –  Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Dear Lord, the Strong and Mighty One, I thank You for becoming small and fragile on that day long ago. It amazes me that You did that for me and the rest of Your world. May you know the peace of Christmas every day of the year. – ODB, 25 December 2015

Amen to a grace-filled week ahead.

그녀는 예뻤다 She Was Pretty

It’s been a while since I’ve blogged about anything other than quotes/paragraphs from Bible plans that I’m reading. So…SURPRISE! Haha.

I have watched a record breaking number of Korean dramas this year. The count stands at 8 (going on to 9 soon)! That’s about 1 drama every 6 weeks? *pats self on back* It used to take me 6 months to finish one drama.

ANYWAYS! 그녀는 예뻤다 deserved a post because it made me smiled, aww-ed and the likes (: I mean Reply 1997 and Misaeng was good too! It’s Okay, That’s Love was awesome too (psychology!). But this one just….made me laughed throughout.

You must first know how much I REFUSED to watch this show because of Siwon. As much as I love him, he can’t act and he has a knack for choosing really corny shows (King of Dramas anyone?). But when CP messaged me and asked if I was watching the show, I thought I should give it a shot (: I did have some issues with how the set looks a little like Ugly Betty but oh well. And there’s some loopholes like when Siwon was skyping, the reflection shows Asian but when they go to the screen, it was 2 Americans. Hmmm.

I won’t give too much details about the show (because you can google!). But here’s an advice – if you are like me, don’t like the backstabbing and misunderstanding, HOLD ON! Just get passed the first few episodes and it will be over and done with. Then the rest of the show will be good.

Siwon finally chose a drama that suits him. He is just being himself or an exaggeration of his frat boy self that it was hilarious. You can also tell that the casts are enjoying themselves because they have all worked with each other before. It’s a joy to watch (:

Everyone will probably be going, “If you are Kim Hye Jin (the main character), would you choose your childhood friend or Siwon’s character?” And that was my initial thought. But I realised…I need someone like Kim Hye Jin in my life. My other half needs to be like her – positive and cheerleader. Because I am like the childhood friend. I am so used to being strong, independent that I am afraid of crumbling. I need someone to lighten me up but not too much (ala Siwon’s character).

I also asked myself, “If there’s a childhood friend that you can meet now, who would it be?” I thought of my secondary school crush and the likes but I realised I would really like to have met my primary school crush – TPL. He has passed on for quite some time now though. I seem to be missing him quite often this year. Maybe because it’s been a nostalgic kind of year and he played a significant role in my P5, P6 and early secondary days. I remembered talking to him on the phone in my room with our siblings (who were classmates) eavesdropping. That was hilarious. Yeah.

And the interaction between the characters when they are finally together is just <3. The teasing, the encouragement and the chill moments of just being quiet together. Awww.

I guess most importantly, this show reminded that I shouldn’t give up hope on having a relationship (: Someday, someone will come by and break down my walls. Hehe. Here’s to hoping!

Devotion 20/12/2015

Sometimes, I find meaningful words/verses/phrases and I do a screenshot of them. But somehow, an idea struck me today and I thought, “Why not just do a weekly Sunday thing?” Just in case the phone dies and the screenshots disappeared *choy!*

The 3rd week of break is gone just like that. One more week to go before I have to go back to work. Yes, there’s 2 more weeks of December holidays but teachers have to go back slightly earlier. Heh.

Haven’t been sleeping well these days. Mostly jittery sleep. Don’t quite know how to explain them but yeah. One more week to go. I’ll have awesome sleep! Time to tune my body clock back to normal working hours too.

Ventured out on Thursday for nails and facial. Hooray to packages. No need to pay ;p But I think the facial lady used to high a voltage during the ‘disinfection’ phase cos my skin is super dry now. Not to mention how swollen my eyes were the day after facial – I must be allergic to something. Will obediently apply moisturizer and hopefully the skin will return back to normal.

ANYWAYS! One more week to go! More rest, more reflection, more thankful thoughts! Let this week be grace-filled and peace-filled too. Amen!

What gift would you ask for and what would you offer (to God)? The Bible gives us lots of ideas. God promises to supply all our needs, so  we might ask for a new job, help with financial problems, physical healing for ourselves or others, or a restored relationship. Or we might long to be more loving, joyful, peaceful, patient, kind and good, faithful, gentle and self-controlled (Gal 5:22-23).

The most important gift we can ever receive is God’s gift of His Son, our Savior, and with Him forgiveness and restoration. And the most important gift we can ever give is to give Jesus our heart. – Marion Stroud

Many times we don’t get to select the work we do. But all of us can choose our attitude toward the tasks we’re given. How we do the God gives us is the measure of our service to Him. Father in Heaven, our work in life often causes us to wonder if we are accomplishing anything worthwhile. Give us eyes to see the importance of the tasks You have given us so that we may honor You by the way we do them. Humble work becomes holy work when it’s done for God. – ODB, 15 December 2015

God, I thank You that even though You see my mistakes, You still love me and help me live a godly life. While I refuse to be discouraged by my failures, I also refuse to stay the same. I choose to follow You and imitate You more and more each day. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Heavenly Father, help me to glorify Your name and to honor You always in what I do and say. – ODB, 16 December 2015

God, thank You so much for loving me and for approving of me. Thank You for smiling over me. Your love has changed my life and I know that it will only continue to do so as I grow in You. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Lord, You promised never to leave us or forsake us. We know Your word is true, but so often we see the obstacles and challenges and lose sight of You. Help us today to see more of You and less of our problems. – ODB, 18 December 2015

We need to practice positive thoughts in every situation. If you’re going through a difficult time, expect that God will work things out for your good. God, I admit that I struggle with negative thoughts and I need Your help. Line my thoughts up with Your Word. In every situation, remind me that You will work things out for my good. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Being positive is powerful. And a big part of being positive is simply reminding yourself of your past successes. If you’re going through a difficult time right now, let me remind you that this is probably isn’t the first challenge you’ve faced. You survived the last one (and probably learned some valuable lessons through it) and you will survive this one too. Better days are on their way. God promises it! God, sometimes the situation in front of me seems impossible, but You have brought me through difficult times in the past, and I know You can and will do it again. Help me to remember past successes and to think positively about my present situation. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. – Matthew 11:28

Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you. – Hebrews 13:5

Amen.

2nd week – over. Birthday – over. That was fast. In 2 weeks, I will be back at work and in 3 weeks, waking up at 5.30am again. Where did the time go? Time really DO speed up after 21/23/25. Ah wells. Enjoy while I can (:

This week has been peaceful and restful. A week of staying home, catching up on sleep, reading and drama. Hopefully the rest of the weeks will be the same (: Mum’s not feeling too good this week, please ease her discomfort and help her get better, God.
A restful, peaceful and thankful week ahead! Amen.

Fill my heart, Lord, with rejoicing at the gift of Your love and forgiveness found in Your Son, Jesus. – OBD, 6 December 2015

Joy doesn’t come frpm having your circumstances in order and under control; it comes frpm what’s in your heart. Contentment is not about fame or being well-known, how much money you have, your position at work or your social circle. Contentment is a heart attitude. The word content means, “being satisfied to the point where nothing disturbs you, but not satisfied to the point that you never want any change”. Life is all about the choices we make, so choose contentment and satisfaction every single day. God, I want to be content and satisfied with where I am, right here, right now. Give me the strength to choose to be content every single day. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

God promises that He’ll never put more on us than we can bear and deal with. God is on your side. God wants you to know that He has an individual plan for your life. Lord, I want my contentment to come from You, not my circumstances. Show me every day that Your plan for me is perfect and that I don’t need to worry. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Dear Father, thank You for forgiving us what we don’t deserve. You have forgiven my sins and provided a way for me to be reconciled to You through the gift of Your Son. Help me to always be grateful for Your grace. God’s gift is grace. – OBD, 9 December 2015

Lord, I only want my heart to be filled with thoughts and desires that are from You. As I spend more time in Your presence and focus solely on You, I know that my heart will change for the better, affecting the rest of my life in godly ways. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Lord Jesus, thank You for coming to our rescue when we were lost and helpless in our sin. – OBD, 10 December 2015

Know in your heart that He has great plans, and no matter how much time He takes, He loves you, and He always has your best interest at heart. Lord, O want to spend my time agreeing with, not fighting, the great work You are accomplishing in me. I thank You that when I start to waste time, You always remind me that You love me and that Your timing is always the best. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

In You do I trust; cause me to know the way in which I should walk. – Pslam 143:8

God, I know that true happiness comes from giving, not receiving. I want to live the life of true happiness that comes from forgetting about my selfish desires and seeking to give to those around me. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Lord, give us hunger to hear and understand the truth of Your Word. Help us show Your love to others by faithfully living out its instructions for us. – OBD, 12 December 2015

Lord, You clearly care about helping those who are poor and lonely. Give me Your heart for justice and show me the hurting and broken that You want me to help. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Never again can we say that no one understands us. Jesus does. May the light that entered the world that night cast its brilliance into the deepest corners of our soul this Christmas, giving us peace on Earth of which the angels spoke so oong ago. – Randy Kilgore

Blessed week ahead, everyone. Amen.

Letter from Year 26

안녕!

잘 지냈어? 이해 어때요? 난 지금 서울에 있어! 기억이 났어? ^^

Okay, that’s about as much Korean as I can think in right now. Tsktsk. But yes, hello from Korea! (: Remember how you extended your trip out of anger but in the end, this week has been one of the greatest so far? (:

Recap, recap! Year 27 started in a tiny room in Nine-Tree Hotel. But they upgraded you to a bigger one with an awesome view after your feedback. Had lunch and coffee with Chung and Natsuki! Remember the cake? Yums! And then you walked around Myeongdong all by yourself (: Enjoying the cold and churros! But clumsy clauds striked when you deleted all the photos of the Xmas lights -.-

How was Year 27? Went by in a zoom and it’s been quite a journey (:

If it hasn’t been too awesome, I want you to remember how thankful you are right now. For being able to come on this trip. For the friends in your life. For your family. Remember how the weather held up in Jeju? Or how it’s sunny on your birthday? Don’t fret. God has a plan for you(:

Did you take up the job that San introduced? Are you on your way to become a teacher now (like finally)? I’M A TEACHER NOW! Quite a story behind it which I will include in the letter to Year 29! ^^

Taken any more trips? Japan? Seoul? Grounded the entire year. I think I didn’t even head to Sentosa. ㅋㅋㅋ.

Have you cut out the unnecessary people in your life? 그새….아마?

Have you finished Level 3? Started Japanese? Completely stopped lessons. Didn’t quite like the teacher, no energy, no funds. Don’t think I will pick them up in the near future too 😦

Bought Note 4? iPhone clan now? I know I know, I ask the same thing every year! Samsung all the way, yo!

How’s the family? Grams? Mum? Dad? Ah Yong? Dajie? Mostly doing well. Dajie moved out though. And mum got shingles this week. Her mood is quite bad. Hopefully she feels better soon.

The lumps in your breast. Are they better now? Remember, trust in God! He will heal you (: Put your faith in Him first! Been ‘upgraded’ to annual instead of half-yearly visits. AMEN!

Attached? Met Siwon yet?! No and no. ㅋㅋㅋ

Quite curious how this year has been for you. I mean, Year 27 was so goal driven, so purpose-driven. Year 28 (woah. 28!) must be quite different without an ultimate goal in mind. Confused much? You’re talking about Year 26 and Year 27. I just turned 28 today!

Take it as a lapse year. 앞으로 chase after your other dreams! Like trip to US, Aussie. And the BIG ones like a house, letting the parents retire (: 알아 알아. Year 28, fighting too!

Approaching Year 28 with a bit of hope, abit of dread, a bit of fear. Ahhhhh….But if you are reading this…YOU MADE IT! (: Good job! 27. 27! haiyo.

Remember to thank God for guiding you through yet another year! Yes. It’s been a blessed and grace-filled year. Everything in His time (:

Year 28. SERIOUSLY?! AJA AJA!

Remember, Shan. All your tomorrow’s are in God’s Hands! Amen!

Love,
Huishan

Devotion 6/12/2015

Sometimes, I find meaningful words/verses/phrases and I do a screenshot of them. But somehow, an idea struck me today and I thought, “Why not just do a weekly Sunday thing?” Just in case the phone dies and the screenshots disappeared *choy!*

Welcome to my month (: December has always been something special to me. With my birthday, Christmas and New Year, there’s almost always a celebration every week. On top of that, December has always been a period of rest for me since young. A time to slow down and read, reflect and rest.

First week of fly-off period is over just like that. Been unusually social if I do say myself. I met up with people that I haven’t meet in a while. I went out 3 times this week *gasp* Yes, if you know me, I don’t like going out >.< I much rather cuddle and read at home. Heh. But it’s been good (: Let the hibernation begin~

I have no plans for the coming week. Yayy! I hope to spend it reading, reflecting. And most importantly, learn to be thankful for every single day, blessing, favor that I have received. Restful week ahead, y’all. Amen!

The possibilities are endless when you make a decision to serve others not only through words, but also through practical action. Lord, I want to put action behind my words. Show me how I can practically help the people You bring across my path so they can experience the power of Your love. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

I believe God’s grace is the power that enables and energizes us to do what we need to do – and He gives generously, as we need it. God, I know that You have overcome any and every obstacle, so I ask You to help me live in the peace that You’ve provided for me. Show me how to trust You as I live ‘in the now’. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

I am poor and needy; may the Lord think of me. You are my help and my deliverer. – Psalm 40:17

Be glad in the Lord always! Again I say, be glad! – Philippians 4:4

Give Jesus your heart and ask Him to make you pure and clean. He may tumble you a bit, and it may take time to smooth away the rough edges. But He will never give up on you. Lord, when we have nothing left but You, we are right where You want us. You can use any situation for Your glory and our good. You never give up on us. Help us to relax in Your love. God loves us too much to let us remain as we are. – ODB, 2 December 2015

Do what you need to do. It may not be easy. It might take some time. But trust God and go for whatever it is. Look from the place where you are right now – and go! God, regardless of what’s happened in the past, help me to look up from where I am now. I thank You for Your new beginning for me. I will boldly step into it and walk out Your calling for me. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Do not gloat when your enemy falls; when they stumble, do not let your heart rejoice. – Proverbs 24:17

Lord, open my eyes and my heart to be honest about my attitude toward those who are unkind or unfair to me. Fill my heart with Your love, Lord, and help me to pray for them. – ODB, 3 December 2015

God, I trust You to guide me on the journey You have for me, and I know that when I get off track, You will always be there to help me recover and keep going. – – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

The struggles and trials may not disappear, but we will discover that He gives us His peace in the midst of them. Lord, we see danger and trouble all around us. Help us not to worry but instead to trust and rest in You. Show us the peace that comes from waiting patiently on You. – ODB, 4 December 2015

Breaking a habit requires making a series of good choices, one after the other. God, I’m done living with my bad habits. I make a choice to take the authority You’ve given me over temptations that want to boss me around. I will follow Your Holy Spirit into new and better life habits. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Don’t be defeated by evil, but defeat evil with good. – Romans 12:21

God, You have given me a choice, and I choose life! I know change is hard, but I ask You to help me. With Your help and my willingness to change, I know I can overcome any obstacles. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Be rooted and built up in him, be established in faith and overflow with thanksgiving just as you were taught . – Colossians 2:7

Amen.
