Devotion 31/1/2016

Sometimes, I find meaningful words/verses/phrases and I do a screenshot of them. But somehow, an idea struck me today and I thought, “Why not just do a weekly Sunday thing?” Just in case the phone dies and the screenshots disappeared *choy!*

After the craziness that was the 3rd week, 4th week seems a little less…crazy. I still leave school when the bell rings but I stayed back to create lesson plans and clear marking backlogs. I even had time to pop by Starbucks on Thursday for a cup of Strawberry Red Velvet Mocha (yums!).

Expecting the coming week to speed up and gain a little crazy momentum once again. My Monday afternoon is going to be spent at a briefing, the class test that I’ve set needs some tweaking, need to kick start planning for SA2, lesson plans to create, CNY errands to run and not to mention the piles and piles of books that will start to pile up again *faints* I am looking and so not looking forward to the CNY holidays.

Thank you, God for the guidance the past weeks. Without your encouragement, I would have fizzled out. One of my colleagues asked why I am never tired, because every time she sees me, I am energetic and smiling. That’s not me. That’s you, God (: Thank you!

For the coming week, I pray for Your strength and Your power to guide me through, may it be grace and favour-filled. To show more of Your ways and words through my actions, words and thoughts. Amen!

Lord, thank You for caring about every part of me, including my emotions. Any emotional pains and wounds that I have, I bring to You. I know that You can heal and restore me. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

The silent plea, the whispered mention of His name, even the very thought of Him brings us solace and reassurance. “He’s as close as His name.” Jesus, thank You that You are near. I need You. Jesus never forgets or abandons His own. – ODB, 30 January 2016

…it doesn’t mean that I don’t get upset, but I can do something positive about it, I can control myself and be peaceful on purpose. Being peaceful on purpose is something we have to do for ourselves. Lord, thank You for providing me with Your peace. When the devil tries to steal my peace, reveals his plans to me. I won’t let him take my peace. Instead, I’ll remain rooted in You. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Surely, God puts people in our lives to give us help and comfort. But let’s also remember to pray. God will hear us. Dear Lord, help me to remember You are my deliverer, and You always hear my cry. Prayer is the bridge between panic and peace. – ODB, 28 January 2016

In my distress, I called to the Lord. – Psalm 18:6

I give thanks to you that I was marvelously set apart. Your works are wonderful – I know that very well. – Psalms 139:14

We all have different gifts and talents, different likes and dislikes, different goals in life and different motivations. A loving person respects and encourages the difference in others. God, help me to appreciate the differences in others and then love them accordingly. We are all fearfully and wonderfully made. Thank You for the amazing creation of each individual You have placed in my life. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Dear God, please help me to freely accept Your provision and the way You choose to deliver it. Thank You for caring for me and meeting my needs. Those who let God provide will always be satisfied. – ODB, 27 January 2016

Consider everyone as equal, and don’t think that you’re better than anyone else. Instead, associate with people who have no status. Don’t think that you’re so smart. – Romans 12:16

But anyone who needs wisdom should ask God, whose very nature is to give to everyone without a second thought, without keeping score. Wisdom will certainly be given to those who ask. – James 1:5

When we face unanswered questions, we find help and hope in God’s love. – ODB, 26 January 2016

There will come one day a personal and direct touch from God when every tear and perplexity, every oppression and distress, every suffering and pain, and wrong and injustice will have a complete and ample and overwhelming explanation. – Oswald Chambers

Whatever you do, do it from the heart for the Lord and not for the people. – Colossians 3:23

Don’t be afraid of failing that you never take a chance. Don’t stay in the safety zone. You may feel safe, but you will never succeed at developing your full potential or being filfilled in what you are doing. Step out into what you feel God is leading you to do, and you will soon discover what you can and cannot do. Lord, in everything I do, I want to serve You wholeheartedly. Thank You for encouraging me to step out and take action, developing the great potential You have given me. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Set a guard over my mouth, Lord; keep watch over the door of my lips. – Pslams 141:3

Father, please curb my careless speech and put a guard on my tongue today and every day. A word filthy spoken is like apples of gold in settings of silver. (Proverbs 25:11) – ODB, 25 January 2016

God, help me to see myself through Your eyes, with the gifts and talents You’ve given me. I believe that You made me with great potential because You are a great God. Today, I put my confidence in You and believe that all things are possible with You! – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Lord, let me not forget to acknowledge You for all that You do for me and enable me to do. God’s children will do His will for His glory. – ODB, 24 January 2016

Lord, I look to You for security. I focus on the truth – You are my refuge and strength. You give me love and acceptance. In You alone I am completely confident. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Amen!

Devotion 24/1/2016

Sometimes, I find meaningful words/verses/phrases and I do a screenshot of them. But somehow, an idea struck me today and I thought, “Why not just do a weekly Sunday thing?” Just in case the phone dies and the screenshots disappeared *choy!*

This week has been crazy. Stayed in school till 6.45pm every day. If not for the school closing, I would stayed later. Remedial starts next week so I think that will mean staying back in school till 6.45pm everyday *sigh*

At least I completed the 1st draft of the paper I’m supposed to set. Thank you, God. I was feeling particularly stressed out about it then I read this phrase, “This day the Lord will deliver you into my hand…(1 Samuel 17:46)” in the Joyce Meyer’s plan. The next morning, I said it out to myself before waking up and things just flowed (: #blessed Thank you, See Guan for going with me to meet the HOD and ask for help too!

Anyhoos! Coming weeks will be even busier. Amendments to the class test, setting of SA2, setting of social media SOP and loads of weekends burnt because of school activities. Even thinking about it makes me tired. But I know I will be able to take them on! Because I can! AJA AJA!

Lord, I pray for more wisdom, strength and courage to get through the coming week. Take control of my words, thoughts and actions so that I can show Your love through them. Amen!

Regardless of the difficulties you are facing, just keep praising God and giving Him glory. Faith will rise in your heart and you will overcome. God, I will not worry. Instead, I choose to worship You. You are great and mighty, and I know that my needs are met because of Your goodness and love for me. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Hate destroys the hater as well as the hated. – Martin Luther King Jr.

God, I know that Your Word is powerful…nothing can stand against it. Every time I find myself in a difficult situation, remind me to confess Your Word out loud. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

“Isn’t my word like fire and a hammer that shatters rock?” declares the Lord. – Jeremiah 23:29

When quarrels and disagreements occur, we can often diffuse them by giving up our right to be right. Humility calls us to show grace and gentleness when we would rather insist on our own way. “In humility value others above yourselves. (Philippians 2:3)”. Jesus, You gave up your life for me. Help me to see each sacrifice I make as a reflection of Your humility. In putting others first, let me honor You. – ODB, 19 January 2016

God, I thank You for the strength You give me when I pray. I know that without You, I am weak, so I choose to continually come to You in prayer, knowing that Your strength is more than enough for me. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

If we are true to God, we will not be false to people. – ODB, 20 January 2016

God, even if I need to suffer to do Your will, I know that there is hope, for Your Spirit is in me, and You have overcome the world. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Be happy in your hope, stand your ground when you’re in trouble, and devote yourself to prayer. – Romans 12:12

Lord, alert me when I’m confronted by False Evidence Appearing Real. I know that with Your help, I can respond with the power of faith and send fear running every time. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

God didn’t give us a spirit that is timid but one that is powerful, loving, and self-controlled. – 2 Timothy 1:7

I sometimes get caught in the cycle of trying harder to be good, failing, getting discouraged, and giving up. Help me, Lord, to depend on Your grace and to draw near to You so that You can change my heart. Focus on Jesus. – ODB, 22 January 2016

Feeling bad about ourselves or believing that God is angry with us separates us from His presence. He will never leave you, so don’t withdraw from Him because of condemnation. Receive His forgiveness and walk with Him. God, thank you for showing me that condemnation is not from You. Today, I receive Your forgiveness. You have cleansed me of sin so that I can live in right standing with You. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Amen.

Devotion 17/1/2016

Sometimes, I find meaningful words/verses/phrases and I do a screenshot of them. But somehow, an idea struck me today and I thought, “Why not just do a weekly Sunday thing?” Just in case the phone dies and the screenshots disappeared *choy!*

Phew. Done with Week 2. Foreseeing that this madness will continue to Week 4 at least. I have 2 papers to set before the end of the term *grimace* But hey, I made it through this week – my first crazy Wednesday (10 periods + 2 meetings), workshop and Parents’ Briefing. Thankful for the people who helped me, who listened to me and my kids from last year who made me smile. Thankful to God for pushing me through (:

Have to figure out how to set a paper and actually set it this week. Wish me luck! I’m planning to prepare all my lessons for this week on Monday then devote the rest of the week to setting the paper. Hopefully it works out! And also, CCA is starting. Scouts. Hmm. HAHAHA.

Anyhoos! I’ll make it through because I will (: Praying for loads of wisdom, strength and power this coming week. Also, hoping that I can continue to do His will. Amen (:

Lord, don’t let me forget who my real enemy is, and don’t let me forget You are all-powerful. I know I can’t handle everything the enemy throws my way, but You can. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Lord, I want to grow, so help me to go deeper into Your Word. Teach me more every day, so that I am better equipped to serve and worship You. – ODB, 16 January 2016

You may have had a miserable past that continues to affect your present in negative and depressing ways. But I say to you boldly, your future is not determined by your past or present! Let God break off the chains of your past. God, I believe that You are more powerful than my past. I receive the freedom You give me. My past will not determine my future. –  Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

I know the plans that I have in mind for you, declares the Lord; they are plans for peace, not disaster, to give you a future filled with hope. – Jeremiah 29:11

Everyone desires to be loved and accepted. But many of us try to find happiness in the wrong way. We attempt to find it in getting, but it is found in giving. The love of God is the most wonderful gift we are given. Lord, I don’t want Your love to become stagnant in me. Help me to not only receive Your love, but to complete the process by choosing to love others lavishly. –  Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

When our circumstances are harsh and sorrows outnumber joys, Jesus shouts to us, “Hold everything you’ve got! Help is on the way!” And with that promise, we can hold on in faith and peace. Lord, we cling to Your promise, expect Your return, and hold on with confidence as we say, “Even so, come, Lord Jesus!”. – ODB, 12 January 2016

Create a clean heart for me, God; put a new faithful spirit deep inside me. – Pslams 51:10

Contentment is a decision to be happy with what you already have. Unfortunately, we usually learn to be content by living discontented lives for a long time and then finally saying, “Lord, I don’t want to live this way any longer.” But it doesn’t have to be this way. You can choose to be content every day. This is worth more than all the material possessions you could possibly accumulate in a lifetime. Lord, I only want what You for me. Like the apostle Paul, I choose to be content in every circumstance. –  Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Perhaps you feel tarnished, worn, old or out of circulation. Even so, God finds value in you. The Creator of the universe wants you – not for your mind, your body, your clothes, your achievements, your intellect, or your personality, but because you are you! He would go any distance and pay any price to possess you (1 Cor. 6:20). As I think about Your love for me, Father, I wonder with amazement how You could love someone like me – and I praise You. – ODB, 11 January 2016

Your way of life should be free from the love of money, and you should be content with what you have. After all, he has said, “I will never leave you or abandon you.” – Hebrews 13:5

Father, thank You for being a rock to which we can flee and no matter where we are or in what circumstances we find ourselves, You are there with us. Help us to remember that even in the darkest of nights, You are our strong tower. Nothing can shake those who are secure in God’s hands. – ODB, 10 January 2016

Whatever your emotinal needs are today, know that only God can meet them. He is the only lasting source of life. Go to Him today, He’s the only One who can satisfy. God, I don’t want to waste my time chasing cheap substitutes. You are the only One who can satisfy. Show me how to daily find my true delight and satisfaction in You and only You. –  Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

“You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance” (32:7). Ezekiel 11:16

Amen!

Devotion 10/1/2016

Sometimes, I find meaningful words/verses/phrases and I do a screenshot of them. But somehow, an idea struck me today and I thought, “Why not just do a weekly Sunday thing?” Just in case the phone dies and the screenshots disappeared *choy!*

First week of school is madness. Foreseeing that the coming week will be equally crazy – workshop, contact time, class decoration, meet the parents, setting paper. I need help! STRESS!

Took my first MC on Wednesday because I was so giddy and had the remnants of flu from last week. The world spins even when my eyes are closed. Then on Thursday, the cold symptoms appeared. Cough, runny nose and escalating temperature. Still sick now 😦 Planned to clean the room tomorrow but guess I have to shelve the idea. Need to be fully recovered to take on the challenges next week.

I’m still trying to get to know my kids and I’m missing P2 Care (2015) very much. Their independence, their helpfulness. I hope they are all adjusting to P3 well. Anyways! Can’t wait to get closer to my kids this year and hopefully I can make a difference in their life.

I pray for strength, wisdom and courage this coming week. May it be grace-filled, favour-filled and fruitful. Amen!

Heavenly Father, we pause to consider all we have in You. Grant us eyes to see Your provision and help us to remember every benefit You have given to us. Love was when God became a man. – ODB, 3 January 2016

Lord, I want to be filled with Your Word, fit and ready for every good word You have for me. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Lord, we don’t need to know the reason our prayers sometimes go unanswered. Help us just to wait for Your time, because You are good. When we bend our knees to pray, God bends His ear to listen. – ODB, 4 January 2016

Lord, open my lips, and my mouth will praise and thank You. Help me use my words to bring joy and life to those around me and to praise and glorify You. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Loving Father, thank You that every part of my life matters to You. Encourage me in my struggles so that I might walk in a way that reflects Your great love and honors Your great name. No one is more secure than the one who is held in God’s hand. – ODB, 6 January 2016

In the same way, let your light shine before people, so that they can see the good things you do and praise your Father who is in heaven. – Matthew 5:16

Lord, we confess our tendency to rationalize everything to get what we think we want. Guide us today so that we choose to obey Your commands instead of pursuing our own desires. There are no shortcuts to true happiness. – ODB, 8 January 2016

Lord, I don’t want to live under the weight of unhealthy shame. Help me to remember how much You love me. Because You have forgiven me, I don’t need to punish myself. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Dear God, I am frail and defenseless, but You are mighty and powerful. Please help me find peace and rest in You when I am overwhelmed. God is our refuge. – ODB, 28 December 2015

Lord, through this hour be Thou our guide; So by Thy power no foot shall slide.

Amen.

Devotion 3/1/2016

Sometimes, I find meaningful words/verses/phrases and I do a screenshot of them. But somehow, an idea struck me today and I thought, “Why not just do a weekly Sunday thing?” Just in case the phone dies and the screenshots disappeared *choy!*

Can’t believe it’s 2016 already! Time really do zoom pass after you turn 21 and 25. They say it goes even faster when you hit 30. Guess I’ll find out in 2 years time.

School starts on Monday.  I have a form class afterall (: I am going to miss my kids from last year. Hopefully they still remember me and won’t run away when they see me XD My brain is all jumbled up with what to do with the class on Day 1 because it’s important to set the tone right. Guess I won’t be sleeping early today. So much to do (including paying bills).

I pray for wisdom, strength and power to get through the coming week and to do God’s will through my actions and words. Dear God, please shower me with your favor and grace this coming week. Amen!

But, following ‘Christian’ rules and going to church won’t make you a Christian any more than sitting in a garage will make you a car. Religious rules and regulations can be harsh, hard and pressing, but that’s not what Jesus wants for people. Jesus wants people to live in relationship with Him. God, it’s easy to fall into the trap of thinking that someone needs to follow a list of rules to really be a Christian, but that’s not the kind of faith You want from people. Empower me to share Your Gospel with others in a way that leads them not into a religious system, but into a one-on-one, life-changing relationship with You. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

If I have the gift of prophecy and I know all the mysteries and everything else, and if I have such complete faith that I can move mountains but I don’t have love, I’m nothing. – 1 Corinthians 13:2

Lord, it’s amazing to me that You – the God who created the universe – care about me and want me to come to You in prayer. Thank You for loving me so much. We always have God’s attention. – ODB, 2 January 2016

Lord, I realize that doing good work is no replacement for truly knowing You. Help me to find rest in You as I lay useless activity aside to spend more time with You. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

God, I don’t want to live life like a tourist without a guide, aimlessly going my own way. Only You can show me what to do and how to live, so I choose to follow Your guidance every day. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Father, I put my longings and burdens on You because I know You care for me and can work powerfully. Thank You that I and my loved ones are in Your care. – ODB, 31 December 2015

Lord, when tested, I want to be ready, holding up under pressure, following You no matter what. Show me daily how to put my trust in You, even when I struggle with unanswered questions. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Father in Heaven, this life can be wonderful, but it can also be hard. Thank You for Your Spirit’s presence with us now. And thank You for the reality of eternal life with You. When you’re weary in life’s struggles, find your rest in the Lord. – ODB, 30 December 2015

Bless people who harass you – bless and don’t curse them. – Romans 12:14

When you forgive, it opens a door for God to heal you, but honestly, it doesn’t do much for the person who offended you. But when you bless them, you ask God to bring truth to them so they can repent and experience the real freedom He provides. Forgiveness sets you free, blessing your enemies sets them free. God, I thank You for helping me walk in forgiveness, but I don’t want to stop there. I ask You to bless those who have hurt me. In the same way that You have brought healing to my life, bring healing to them so they can experience Your goodness and walk in Your love. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Father, there are great needs all around us. We choose not to give in to despair or apathy, but look to You for help in doing the task at hand. Those who walk with God won’t run from the needs of others. – ODB, 29 December 2015

..the greatest deception in the area of forgiveness is the idea that if our feelings have not changed, we have no truly forgiven. You can make the right decision to forgive and not “feel” any differently. That’s when faith steps in. God will do His part and heal your emotions, make you whole, and change your feelings towards the person who hurt you. Lord, I choose to forgive those who have hurt me. I release them from their debt, in Jesus’ name. Heal my heart and make me whole. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Dear God, I am frail and defenseless, but You are mighty and powerful. Please help me find peace and rest in You when I am overwhelmed. God is our refuge. – ODB, 28 December 2015

Lord, because I know that you are in control and work all things for good, I can be flexible when life doesn’t follow my plan. When my plans don’t work out, help me to find the good and stay positive. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Thank You for forgiving us and for turning our filthiness into the beauty of forgiveness. Help us to display the beauty of our forgiveness to all we encounter. When Christ forgives us, our hearts are as clean as new-fallen snow. – ODB, 27 December 2015

Don’t fear, because I am with you;
don’t be afraid, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you,
I will surely help you,
I will hold you with my righteous strong hand. – Isaiah 41:10

Amen.
