Devotion 24/4/2016

Sometimes, I find meaningful words/verses/phrases and I do a screenshot of them. But somehow, an idea struck me today and I thought, “Why not just do a weekly Sunday thing?” Just in case the phone dies and the screenshots disappeared *choy!*

Exams begins next week. I can’t believe it. How did I reach here? And that also means I am going to be spending quite a fair bit of time marking next week. I really don’t like marking Paper 1 (and Oral). Especially since I got a feedback saying that I’m too strict last year o.O

Ahwell! This week went by in a flash. I can’t remember much except conking out in front of the sofa every single day. Barely even talk to my parents. The moment I sit down, OUT. I just started playing Candy Crush again. Hopefully that will keep me awake enough to talk to my parents while playing *fingers crossed*

Looks like I won’t be travelling this June holidays. Initially it’s about the quakes and increased tension between the 2 Koreas. Then…I just spent a bomb on my facial package. Meh. Ah well. Reading here I come!

Will be spending loads more time with the class this week since timetable has been suspended. Lord, please give me loads of energy to get through this week. Help me stay positive and prod me up with your strong hands. I trust in You. Amen.

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. There is no law against things like this. – Galatians 5:22-23

God, I don’t rely on natural favor. Instead, I want to live in Your supernatural favor. With my life in Your hands, I know You can lift me up. –  Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Life can ambush us with overwhelming challenges. Yet our fear and uncertainties give us the opportunity to turn to our all-powerful God. He specializes in the unconventional. Lord, You are not the source of confusion or fear, but of strength and peace. We exchange our panicky plans for Your amazing answers. Encourage us as we wait for You. – ODB, 18 April 2016

God uses ordinary people to carry out His extraordinary plans. – ODB, 20 April 2016

Holy Spirit, I choose today to quiet myself so that I can hear Your little promptings. Show me ways that I can bless others. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

…He may not always rescue us when we want to get out of circumstances, but He is always with us as we walk through them. Today, instead of focusing on just the end result, realize that God is with you now. He is near you, so trust Him to walk with you through the process. God, I am so glad that You are with me now. I don’t just trust You to give me things, but I trust You through the process of life. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Even when I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no danger because you are with me. Your rod and Your staff – they protect me. – Pslams 23:4

Sometimes when we pray we feel like we need help delivering to God what is on our heart. We may not know the right words to say or how to express our deep longings…Be encouraged that God hears us when we pray and He knows our deepest needs. Thank You, Father, for giving me Your Spirit to help me when I pray. Thank You for hearing my prayers and for loving me. – ODB, 22 April 2016

The Spirit helps us in our weakness. We do not know what we ought to pray for, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us through wordless groans. – Romans 8:26

God, I know it doesn’t do me any good to hang on to the past when You lovingly stand before me with a fresh chance, so I let go of my ashes. I give them to You, excited to see the beauty that You will bring from them. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Devotion 17/4/2016

Sometimes, I find meaningful words/verses/phrases and I do a screenshot of them. But somehow, an idea struck me today and I thought, “Why not just do a weekly Sunday thing?” Just in case the phone dies and the screenshots disappeared *choy!*

A colleague mentioned that the term is almost over and IT’S TRUE! How did I get to Week 5 without realising it? Then the mum mentioned that April is almost over just now…They weren’t kidding when they say that time flies after you turn 23. Meh.

Lesson observation went okay. Thank you, God (: I was sweating like mad that mad cos I was nervous and the weather was intolerable. Talking about the weather…I have been skipping lunch because the weather is so hot! Bad, I know. But I rather eat bread than come back feeling lethargic and dehydrated.

Exams are coming soon. Madness approaching. A school event is coming as well (and I’m involved). 6 more weeks till holidays! I CAN DO THIS!

Lord, please let this coming week pass by simply and help me to achieve that work-life balance once again (: I know you’re still working on me. I’ll trust and not be afraid. Lead me in Your simple plans for me. Amen.

God cares for you, but He won’t do your part. He enables you to do it, but let me emphasize that He won’t do it for you! I dare you to stand firm, take responsibility and begin working with God to have the blessed life He’s planned for you. God, Your Word says that You’ve given me the ability to remain calm. I receive that today. I won’t let my feelings run my life, and I will be responsible and respond the way You want me to. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Lord, thank You for today. May I embrace it as Your gift, celebrate Your faithfulness, and live this day fully for You. Welcome each day as a gift from God. – ODB, 14 April 2016

May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in faith so that you overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. – Romans 15:13

Jesus loved me so much that He not only forgave all my sins from the past but also looked ahead and forgave me for those moments of weakness when I’d fall in the future. Lord, every time I start to believe the enemy’s lies, remind me of the truth in Your Word. By believing in You, I receive peace and joy today. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Some people’s desires are truly audacious, they don’t do the right thing. But the righteous person will live honestly. – Habakkuk 2:4

Dear God, at times I let down my guard and indulge in sin. Please help me to listen to Your warnings and obey Your Word. Protect me from my own impulses and conform me to Your image. Thank You for Your work in me. – ODB, 12 April 2016

Give thanks in every situation because this is God’s will for you in Jesus Christ. – 1 Thessalonians 5:18

God, I’m thankful for Your love and Your presence. Forgive me for grumbling when things go wrong, and remind me of how many things go right in my life. I want to rejoice in You always. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Lord, show me if my priorities are skewed and where I need to make changes. Thank You for the gift of family and friends. – ODB, 11 April 2016

Spend time counting your blessings, and not airing your complaints. – ODB, 10 April 2016

Lord, I boldly step into the purpose You have for me. I will not sit back, but I will purposefully live my life for You.

Amen!

Splurge. Exhaustion. 2 words to summarise my week. I took Grab to and back from school almost everyday of the week. This exhaustion that hits me suddenly. No matter how much I sleep, it doesn’t go away. It dictates when I will sleep too. No idea what’s up. Hmm.

Planned too much fun activities for my class. Their work was horrendous. Gave them a pep talk (instead of the usual scolding) and told them if they give me lousy work after a fun activity, they will have no more activities. It worked for about a day. The next day, after having fun learning how to measure with a string, the work was atrocious. Suspending their activities for a week. That’s what I said but honestly, up to Wednesday only ;p I believe in having fun while learning (:

Lesson observation on Monday. I told the kids that’s their last day of fun XD Hoping everything will go smoothly! Pray for me! (: Busy week ahead with loads of duties and activities after school.

Lord, probe me up with your strong hands and guide me along once again this week. Bless me with your favour and let me have a smooth sailing observation and week (: Amen!

Passion is a decision about how we will approach life before it becomes a feeling. God, I want to always be amazed by You! I will not live without passion. Knowing You is amazing, and I choose now to live with passion in my relationship with You. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

God, I know my faith is useless without love. Help live a life overflowing with Your love. Guide me as I receive Your love and give Your love to others. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Lord, we do rejoice even in our struggles because we are rejoicing in who You are and Your good purposes for us. You are powerful, loving, in control, and eternal. We trust You and love You. – ODB, 9 April 2016

Let this endurance complete its work so that you may be fully mature, complete and lacking in nothing. – James 1:4

Lord, I want You to change me, and I know that means I’ll go through challenges. Give me Your strength to endure and be steadfast when I’m going through trials so I can have patience and be fully developed in Christ. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

When you and I say to God, “Change me,” we better know what we’re saying because we are not just going to wake up different the next morning. Instead, what God is going to do is give us an opportunity to grow as we change. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

In spite of our mistakes, God has hope for us and knows that He can change us if we’ll stay close to Him. God’s not disappointed. He’s full of hope where we’re concerned. He believes in us more than we do ourselves. Lord, Your hope for me is so encouraging and inspiring. Even when I don’t believe in myself, I know that You do, and that gives me the strength to overcome my mistakes and follow You. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Beware of giving up too soon. Our emotions are not reliable guides. John Piper – ODB, 5 April 2016

Holy Spirit, alert me before I do something that would pull me away from a life of holiness. With Your guidance, I want to live carefully, following the path of holiness You have for me. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Father, in the face of life’s sometimes awful circumstances, may we find Your grace to be a source of awe and wonder. Instruct us in our trials, and carry us in Your arms when we are overwhelmed. The darkness of trials only make God’s grace shine brighter. – ODB, 4 April 2016

God, I don’t want to live paralyzed by fear of my imperfection and my mistakes. I know that instead, I can call out to You, and You will help me press forward to the mark of perfection. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Better is a single day in your courtyards than a thousand days anywhere else! I would prefer to stand outside the entrance of my God’s house than live comfortably in the tents of the wicked! – Pslams 84:10

Father, grant me an aware of my place in Your work. Help me to see You at work in the people and places where I spend my time. – ODB, 3 April 2016

Dear Heavenly Father, I commit all of my plans to You. Thank You for bringing me this far. You mean more to me than anything in the world. – ODB, 7 April 2016

Amen.

Devotion 3/4/2016

Sometimes, I find meaningful words/verses/phrases and I do a screenshot of them. But somehow, an idea struck me today and I thought, “Why not just do a weekly Sunday thing?” Just in case the phone dies and the screenshots disappeared *choy!*

It always surprise me when I have to change the month for the title. Time really does fly by. However, even though it is only the 3rd week of school, it feels like I have been bad there forever. I need a break. Haha.

My tummy hasn’t been feeling too well for a week now. I suspect it is a combination of the haze and the setting of exams paper. Since both are not going away or end any time soon, I guess my tummyache is here to stay with me 😦

Pretty thankful that I’ve managed to leave school earlier than usual this week. Not that early but considering my records, it’s good enough. Thank you, God. Being home earlier has helped me to cope better with my constant tummyache too. Hopefully I’ll be able to keep it up for the entire term!

Wish me luck with the paper setting. Hopefully it won’t land at an inconvenient time (like Wednesday). I just want to get it over and done with! Lord, continue to strengthen and lead me in Your simple plans. Help me to rest in the knowledge that You will be there for me always. Amen.

Great God of heaven, thank You for life, for joy, for protection. Help us to live with thoughts of Your greatness always on our hearts and minds. – ODB, 1 April 2016

Lord, my hope is in You. Satan is a liar and I will not listen to him and lose hope. I expect You to do good things in my life. –  Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

At times, God may allow our resources to dwindle so that we rely on His strength to keep going. Our needs showcase His power, but He is the One who says, “I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous hand.” (Isaiah 41:10) Dear God, I am thankful for Your strength. You carry me when I am weak. Help me to give You credit for every victory in life. God wants us to depend on His strength, not our own. – ODB, 29 March 2016

God, my timing for the new opportunities doesn’t matter. Only Your will matters. As I follow You, I know that You will make a way to bring Your plan for me to pass. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

God, I am nothing without You. You hold me together…in fact, You hold everything together. You are the most important thing in my life and I put You first. – Joyce Meyer: Promises for Your Everyday Life

Dear God, I am thankful for Your strength. You carry me when I am weak. Help me to give You credit for every victory in life. God wants us to depend on His strength, not our own. – ODB, 29 March 2016

Amen.
