The Boys Dance Recording (:

Been wanting to learn this dance for eons and when I saw it on CJ’s schedule, I contemplated taking it alone. But lucky Cyndy asked me and viola!

Had loads of fun learning the dance (: Some classmates were familiar faces and of course, Jojo is an awesome teacher who broke down the steps as simply as she could.

After 8 weeks of rushing home to change after work then rushing to class, the class is over! I think I am going to miss taking classes.

I messed up and my hair was all over my place. but I managed to do the “Jessica” step (right after 1st chorus)! like FINALLY! Love the “dance break” though I did acquire a huge blue black on my right knees for 3 weeks :p

Anyways, here’s the video –

Many dance that I want to learn – SNSD’s Mr Mr, f(x)’s Red Light, SJM’s Swing, SNSD’s Animal/Flower Power etc etc

But Korea is calling! #혜산유학전

[Music Monday] Hush by Miss A

Because we all need a earworm to kickstart the week! Plus, Monday is the only day in the week that starts with M. I’ll try to post non-Kpop songs occasionally :P

I was feeling a little down just now. The incredible urge to cry was there (again) and I thought I will skip this week’s Music Monday. I mean, no one is actually following it closely and I am only writing it more for my own (future) sake. But after listening to an old church song I used to sing in Sunday school, I am slightly better. So…here I am! 😀

I am hooked onto this song for weeks before CNBlue and SNSD came back. Yes, when the song first came out, I didn’t like it. Didn’t like the song, didn’t like the dance. I even remembered saying, “Their new song like no kick eh.” when I saw the MV at Celine Jessandra. Boy, am I wrong!

After watching the RM episode with Suzy, I thought I will give the song another chance and ding ding. Hooked! No idea why iTunes only said the song was played 16 times ;p It was definitely more than that! Plus the MV that I kept watching over and over again. Heee.

The dance is quite interesting (: And it has what I like to call the trademark moves of Miss A – going down on the floor and then coming back up. It was in “Goodbye Baby” too! Too bad that I missed the dance course for this dance but if it comes back again (and budget allows), I’m definitely going to take it! Alone or otherwise. (Of course, SNSD’s Mr. Mr takes priority ;p)

I’m actually quite surprised that the lyrics was okay for Korean broadcast, knowing how strict they are. It’s actually quite suggestive. Well, it was love that they want and not what I thought it is?

Whatever it is, here’s one of the performance of the song (:

The chorus is addictive and I was humming to it in the morning for an entire week. Heh.

I think I am growing to like Miss A quite a bit. They might not be big names like SNSD and 2NE1 but they have this unique charm about them.

Oh and I am pretty impress with Suzy. During one of the performance, her dress straps broke so she had to hold on to the dress throughout the performance. Even then she was pretty professional about it and giving it her all. Jjjang! Will post the video here when I find it (again).

That’s all this week (: I hope the week will be smmooooth (:

[Music Monday] Ladies’ Code – Bad Girl

Because we all need a earworm to kickstart the week! Plus, Monday is the only day in the week that starts with M. I’ll try to post non-Kpop songs occasionally 😛

I’ll be honest here. I don’t listen to K-Pop songs if they are not from the big groups like SNSD, EXO or maybe Miss A. But after seeing Kim Ri-Se on Running Man, I you-tubed for the song and it kinda got stuck in my head.

It’s been added to my playlist for less than a week and it’s already been played for 50 times.

The beat of the song is fast and of course, like all good K-Pop songs, there’s this one phrase that will get stuck in your head...”나쁜 여자야…..Bad Girl Bad Girl Bad Bad Girl..”

So, listen away (:

Looking at the lyrics, it kinda remind me of Britney’s “Overprotected” and “I’m a Slave 4 U”. Especially this part –

약한 여자라고 (You’re a weak girl)
내 눈엔 착한 여자라고 (You’re a nice girl in my eyes)
가여운 여자로 (A pitiful girl)
그렇게 보지마 (Don’t look at me like that)
이런 나도 이젠 지겨워 (I’m sick of this now)

This happens to be my favorite part of the song too (:

Dance-wise, it kinda remind me of Miss A’s Goodbye Baby. Especially during the ‘dance break’. I missed the course for this dance at Celine Jessandra 😦 So I am learning (or at least trying to) the chorus on my own. FIGHTING!

Oh yeah. The main singer reminds me of Miss A’s Jia! Don’t you think? Anyways, expecting more good stuff from this group 😀

i said it way too early.

My reaction for dance class today was…”What just happened?” *blank look*

Oh. Mr Simple is just too hard. And the last lesson will only have 7 of us. There’s no way I can pull a Jessica here.

Going to load up on the number of times I watch the MV this week.

With that said, SNSD has just released a new song! Japanese though. Not really liking it. I keep seeing modified dance steps from Oh!, Hoot and Mr Taxi. Yoona is stuck with the “Oh, oh, oh” again. Oh yeah! Sooyoung’s legs! WOOHOOO!

Waiting to see if there’s a dance class for this (:

every saturday, i dance.

Note: I am writing this post with Shinee’s “Why So Serious” and EXO’s “MAMA” remixing in my head. May sound blabberish or disconnected. HELP!

And I go for Korean lessons too. But that’s beside the point.

Yes! For the past 2.5 – 3 years, I have been taking dance lessons on and off every weekend (: Yes, me, the klutz, is taking dance classes!

It all started when I saw the dance school on Ch5 and that got me curious. A quick Google and I was officially interested. Why? Cos the school offers K-Pop MTV dance class!

Yaayyy! I just started liking K-Pop back then and I like classes that is…end-to-end. You know, you go to class with the purpose of learning something and have something to show after x lessons? Yes, sir! I likey! So, I started asking and bugging my friends to join me for classes but after a few rejections,  I finally found KL! And 就这样误打误撞, both of us signed up for our very first dance class – Miss A’s Goodbye Baby.

Ever since then, KL and I have been signing up for classes. And I’ve found more and more friends to join me too 😀

So where is this school? The school is called, “Celine Jessandra School of Performing Arts” or CJ in short (you might have already heard of them!).

It’s located next @ Novena, next to United Square. Goldhill Centre? No idea? Where Burger King, Super Cuts and Udders is!

Lesson Format and Price

Each class is about an hour long with about 10-18 people in the class. The number of lessons that you will have will depend on the difficulty level of the dance. For example, I Got A Boy was 8 lessons while Genie was 4 lessons.

Price of each dance course is between $65-$110.

Haven’t seen combo courses in awhile but basically, combo courses teaches half of 2 songs. I took a combo course for Step (KARA) and Bubble Pop (Hyuna). It’s 4 lessons each and I paid about $100? The price is probably outdated though since that was a year ago.

At the end of each dance course…

There’s video recording! Hehe.

Nonono, don’t get nervous! The recording is entirely for your own keepsake (: The school won’t upload it to their YouTube Channel or anything. Take it as a report card. Something to look back and laugh or be impressed with next time. For me, I laugh whenever I look at mine 😛

Here’s one of my ‘better’ recordings from the recent Genie class.

Age limit?

Nope! There’s no age limit (: I have 언니s in my classes that dance really well. Think Bubble Pop is only for young ones? Think again.

The instructors

Are really friendly people. And quite young too T_T makes me feel old~ Then again, yes. I am old. No longer the youngest in social settings *draws circles in a corner*

Yes, the instructors are nice people. They don’t laugh or scoff at you or embarrass you during lessons. If you make mistakes, they will highlight it in a way that you don’t even know it’s you.

I have been to classes under 6 different teachers. 4 of which are still actively teaching at CJ. Jojo was the first teacher and she’s really groovy, her lessons are always fun. Joanna (aka Xiao Jo) was the teacher for IGAB and Into the New World. She’s really patient and can break down the steps really well. IGAB would have been so much tougher otherwise o.o Sam was the teacher for Genie, she’s well-known for “let’s do it super fast now!” 😛 It may seem a little stressful but it really helps to train your brain to not overthink each step and build up muscle memory.  Nigel is my current teacher for Mr Simple. Considering I dropped out after 3 lessons the last time I learned a guy dance (Shinee’s Replay), Nigel (and Jojo who took over one lesson) is pretty awesome to actually make me look forward to each class.

IGAB with Joanna.

Other than the instructors, the marketing folks are rather friendly too. Carmen and Clement!

CJ also offers…

Vocal lessons (: And Sing+Dance lessons! Classes for kids. Basic Hip Hop classes.

You can also arrange for private dance courses.

In a nutshell (a huge one).

I’m so glad my classmates from my Korean classmates are joining for classes now! It make classes so much more fun! 😀 And the oldest friend seems interested too! Of course, I can’t wait for KL to join me at classes again after her wedding! Ohoh! And my sec school senior is attending classes there too. We’ve been trying to attend classes together but schedule don’t fit. Someday!

I have 3 more classes to go till Mr SImple ends and I am already looking for classes to go to :p While Growl is tempting, I know I will die a “horrible death” :p Hopefully more classes will come out soon (: SNSD’s Bad Girl? The Boys? *fingers crossed*

Click here to check out the latest schedule.

If you are thinking of picking up dance, just do it! CJ is a pretty good place to start (: Take it from a klutz who walks into doors/walls and trips over herself frequently once every blue moon.

*runs off to play Shinee’s “Why So Serious” and EXO’s “MAMA” to get them out of my head*
